This session will introduce participants to Motivational Interviewing (MI), a well-established, evidence-based practice used by practitioners and para-professionals across multiple practice contexts in allied health. Participants will be introduced to the underlying “Spirit of Motivational Interviewing” and the necessary skills required to establish a working relationship with clients. Understanding and addressing ambivalence toward change is addressed along with strategies for assisting clients to shift toward “change talk”. Didactic content will be offered along with experiential activities and brief video presentations.
